Practically Speaking
The mail club for solo operators who are happy and anxious in the same breath. An inside look at what it takes to feel okay, dare I say happy, while you build the thing. Part practical, part woo, all evidence-based.
Why I made this
I was tired of feeling like garbage every time I opened my phone. I'd scroll, compare, spiral a little, get distracted with something dumb, and somehow convince myself I was "staying informed."
So I started writing letters and cards again. Partly because I needed a little more whimsy. Partly because room to think is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.
Who this is for
If you've ever felt happy and anxious about your life and business in the very same breath, and wondered what was wrong with you, the good news is nothing's wrong with you. Research shows us that this is the double edge of the entrepreneurial spirit, and that's exactly what we're going to talk about here.
When everything's blasting at your face online, the fix isn't more. It's slowing down enough to feel through what you're building. And I know that sounds like the opposite of everything you're wired for. Slow can sound lazy and like falling behind.
Slow, on purpose, is a luxury most people don't let themselves have. This is time protected for you. You take your letter to your comfy spot to read with your favorite beverage, like it was mailed from a friend. Because it was.
What to expect
Twice a month, an envelope shows up in your mailbox that isn't a bill or a credit card offer. Open it, and you'll find a mix of things: coaching methodology and client insights broken down so you can use them in your business today, answers to your questions, and stories pulled from my work on grief and identity, because building who you are while you build a business is its own kind of hard.
Some pieces will hand you something to apply immediately. Some will come with questions to give you time to think. Some will make you feel a little lighter, or a little less alone. Every so often, a sticker or something fun falls out of the envelope too, because this is supposed to feel like a gift, not homework!
I print, fold, and mail every single piece. If your name is on the envelope, my hands put it there.
FAQ
When will I receive my mail?
Practically Speaking is mailed on the 1st and 15th of every month. Once it's in the mail, delivery can take a few weeks, longer internationally. That unpredictability is part of what makes physical mail feel different from everything else in your day.
New sign ups: Address labels are printed 5 days before each mailing. Sign ups happening in that window will pick up the next mailing. If this happens please contact me at brandi @ brandiholder dot com and I'd be happy to send you both letters in your next mailing.
How do I cancel or update my payment info or address?
Log onto Stripe to manage all your info directly.
Do you mail internationally?
I mail to all countries that accept the USPS Global Forever Stamp. Don't see your country listed on the checkout page? Contact me at brandi @brandi holder dot com
My letter didn't arrive, what do I do?
If it's been more than 20 days please contact me at brandi @brandi holder dot com
PS: My website is ugly, but my writing is made with love. Nothing here will ever be perfect because that is me living into my mission of fun and creativity. However, if something's wrong, doesn't meet your expectations, or you've got a question about anything not covered above, please reach out!
